We have come a long way since our beginnings in 1980. Today DJ First provides Melbourne with a team of professional disc jockeys at a price and package you can afford.

DJ First is a multi-system company with eight dedicated, dependable hardworking DJs that take pride in everything they do. All our DJs come with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and are more than happy to help in any way they can. All you need to do is ask. So from our end your event will run hassle free, without any problems.

how it all began

Let me tell you how it all started for me, Tony Curini, owner and operator of DJ First. It seems such a long time ago when I first got my taste of being a DJ. It was at a teenage social club where, at the tender age of sixteen, I was curious and amazed watching the DJ perform. He must have spotted me gawking as he called me over and we started talking.

I was in awe, talking to the DJ. He asked my name and if I was having a good time. Then I let it rip with question after question on the what, where and how of everything DJ. He could see I was genuinely interested and spent the next hour showing me what to do. Then he asked what song I really liked. I answered Walk The Night by the Scat Brothers. He rummaged through his record collection and there it was. When he played it for me I was hooked!

The next few years were educational to say the least. While studying full-time for a degree in electronics and working weekends as a roller skating rink DJ, I also coordinated a number of garage and house parties. My big break didn’t come until I started working in the night club scene. It was a step up working at some of the glamorous clubs of the time. The 80s and 90s were spent working at such institutions as Tunnel Night Club, Ritz Nightclub, Palladium Theatre Restaurant, lnflations, Downunder Rock Café, Chasers, Chevron and Bombay just to mention a few.

It was great rubbing shoulders at the Sony, RCA and EMI record meeting every month with other DJ’s just starting out like John Course (Ministry of Sound), Andy Van (Madison Avenue), Paul Mac (Artist), and Anthony Pappa (DMC World Champion). Just regular guys doing what they do best, entertain. At that stage I saw the opportunity to leave the night club scene and create my mobile DJ business, DJ First. And as they say, the rest is history…

Fabulous Job You Did
